Family inspires me; in particular Lucille and Violette, Olga and Clara. These ladies combined creativity with function in their daily lives. They were weavers, painters, farmers, gardeners and mothers.
Making my creativity useful is what made interior design my career of choice. That and my love for art history, another source of inspiration. In the late 20’s a group of weavers, sculptors, architects and painters, just one of them a woman, banded together to create a school whose main objective was to teach how to make art useful. They called it the Bauhaus. They connected fine art, hand craft and technology. I strive to put all three of these key ideas into each of my designs.
It takes more than one person to keep Hauthaus running smoothly. Amber and I work on every project together, checking every detail twice; and occasionally three times. You may get just one of us on site, but both of us are dreaming about, sketching and detailing your project. Great things come from collaboration!
Clean black lines, defined space and smart use of pure color.
Mondrian has always been one of my favorite artists. It appears we have a lot in common. His art is straight-forward and complicated; technical and creative; artistic and smart.
I design because I love making both technical drawings and hand renders, solving space problems with thoughtful solutions, and using color in new, unexpected ways. Dark chocolate and sharpie pens are key components to my work output.
